About Madrid, Spain

Madrid is the capital of Spain, and is home to the Spanish Royal family as well as the Spanish Government. It is a modern metropolitan city and an economical and industrial center of Spain, and, with its population of nearly 3, 5 million people, is also the biggest city in Spain. In financial terms, Madrid houses the headquarters of numerous international and national companies. The capital is also a haven of culture, with world-famous museums such as the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum. Madrid is known for its delicious traditional Spanish food with unique combinations, such as calamari sandwiches! Additionally, it is home to the oldest restaurant in the world. Also, Madrid is famous for being the capital of flamenco, a folkloric dance featuring a flamboyant red and black costume. It has more cloudless days than virtually any other city in Europe. The population of Madrid has grown by more than 2 million people since the 1900’s. Besides being world famous for its football, Spain is also known because of its culinary art, bullfights, architecture, beaches, etc. If you are planning to visit here, you must carry some cash in their official currency, which is Euro. The Spanish capital is one of the most populous in the European Union, a cosmopolitan city where people of over 180 nationalities live together. Expatriates feel at home as they easily make friends with Madrid's amiable residents and adapt to the local culture, enjoying this open, inclusive city.
