S.-R. Eric Yang is a condensed matter theorist and a Professor of Physics at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. He holds a Cand. Scient. from the University of Copenhagen and a Ph.D. from UCSD. Before joining the faculty of Korea University in 1995, he worked as a research scientist at the National Research Council of Canada for seven years. He served as the condensed matter coordinator during the establishment period of the Asia Pacific Center of Theoretical Physics (APCTP). His research interests encompass many-body physics and its interplay with disorder. In collaboration with Allan H. MacDonald, Yang demonstrated that electron interaction effects do not alter the critical properties of integer quantum Hall plateau transitions, except for the dynamic critical exponent. In recent years, his research has focused on the topological order of disordered graphene zigzag nanoribbons. He has shown that disordered interacting graphene zigzag nanoribbons form a new topologically ordered insulator with anyon e/2 fractional charges. In 2023, Yang published a graduate textbook titled 'Topologically Ordered Zigzag Nanoribbon: e/2 Fractionally Charged Anyons and Spin-Charge Separation' (World Scientific). The book has been reviewed by Philip Kim, among others.

Biography: Dr. Eugene S. Mananga is a Professor of physics and nuclear medicine at The City University of New York, an Adjunct Professor of applied physics at New York University, and a Visiting Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He is currently a selected Fellow at KAVLI Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP) at the University of California Santa Barbara. Prof. Mananga has been selected to several Visiting Faculty Fellowships from the US Department of Energy to perform summer research in major US National Laboratories including Argonne National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. His research spans a range of topics in condensed matter physics, materials science, and computational science. Specifically, his research focused on controlling the spin dynamics in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and using computational methods based on density functional theory to investigate and characterize materials systems for energy storage as well as zeolite catalysis. His work utilizes a range of methods, from experimental solid-state NMR, to theoretical chemical physics and spectroscopy, and modern computational chemical science with high-performance computing. He has published more than 80 peer-review scientific articles and is the recipient of several distinguished awards including the 2017 Henry Wasser Award in physics from The CUNY Academy for Humanities and Sciences in recognition of Outstanding Scholarship and Academic Performance, and the 2018 Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Chemical Society (New York Section) for “Contributions and Advanced Studies in the Theory of Spin Dynamics in Solid-State NMR and Quantum Mechanics.”

Biography: Chang Liu is an associate professor in the Department of Physics at Renmin University of China. He received his bachelor's degree from the School of Physics at Nanjing University in 2013, and completed his doctoral studies at the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University in 2019. From 2016 to 2017, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 2019 to 2022, he served as an assistant researcher in the Department of Quantum State of Matter Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences. In 2022, he joined the Department of Physics at Renmin University of China as an independent principal investigator (PI). Chang's research interests primarily focus on employing quantum transport methods to study novel quantum effects in various two-dimensional materials, magnetic materials, and topological materials. These include the quantum anomalous Hall effect, topological quantum phase transitions, and emergent phenomena under extreme conditions. Currently, he has published 23 articles in journals such as Nature Materials, Nature Physics, Physical Review Letters, and Physical Review X, 11 of which he has authored as the first or corresponding author

Dr. Kahouadji has a PhD in physics, option: physics of materials since April 2017, teacher researcher at A.Mira university of Bejaia –Algeria-, faculty of technology. He is working on nanomaterials based on rare earth orthophosphates in collaboration with two laboratories: Laser Department/ Nuclear Research Centre of Algiers (CRNA), Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, University of Belgrade. Since approximately 7 years his research is entirely devoted to the development of luminescent materials and scintillators for medical and nuclear applications . He has managed 4 master project as director and 1 PhD thesis in progress. He has published more than 18 international papers. He is Editorial Board Member in International Journal of Materials Science and Applications (IJMSA).and Journal of Modern Polymer chemistry and Materials, Reviewer for Advances in Science, Technology and Engineering Systems Journal (ASTES). has about 6 international and 3 national oral communications.
