Agronomist engineer and phD in agricultural research, lead the table grapes team of IMIDA, public institute of agrarian research. We developed together ITUM a genetic breeding program to obtain new seedless table grapes varieties with the use of biotechnological techniques such as in vitro culture and molecular markers for obtaining seedlings. Breeder of 20 new varieties already grown in Spain; the first commercial farms are being planted in Chile, Peru, Brazil and Australia; and in the coming years in South Africa, Namibia, Mexico, India and the United States. Two of the varieties have genes for resistance to powdery mildew; we are now focusing on organic farming. Speaker at international congresses in Singapore, Mexico, Chile, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, France, Greece and Peru.

Dai-Yeun Jeong is presently the Director of Asia Climate Change Education Center, an emeritus professor at Jeju National University in South Korea, and the Acting Director at Jeju Secretariat of UNESCO World Network of Island and Coastal Biosphere Reserves. He received BA and MA degree in sociology from Korea University (South Korea), and PhD in environmental sociology from University of Queensland (Australia). He was a professor of environmental sociology at Jeju National University (South Korea) from 1981 to 2012. His past major professional activities include a teaching professor at University of Sheffield (UK), the president of Asia-Pacific Sociological Association, a delegate of South Korean Government to UNFCCC and OECD environmental meeting, and a member of Presidential Commission on Sustainable Development Republic of Korea, etc. He has published 60 environment-related research papers in domestic and international journals and 13 books including Environmental Sociology. He has conducted 100 unpublished environment-related research projects funded by domestic and international organizations.

He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, UKM. His expertise in biofiltration and phytoremediation for water, wastewater, and soil treatment. He is a managing committee for the 2019 IWA specializing in Small Water and Wastewater Systems (SWWS). He has been awarded UKM Excellent Young Academician 2018, UKM Excellent Young Researcher 2017, and Most Valued Reviewers for Bioresource Technology – Elsevier in the year 2017 and 2018.
