He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1995), a Master's in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1997) and a PhD in Civil Engineering - University of Leeds (2002). He is currently associate professor IV at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He is editor-in-chief of Water (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/water/editors) and Ambiente Construído (http://seer.ufrgs.br/ambienteconstruido) magazines. He has experience in Civil Engineering, with emphasis on energy efficiency in buildings, working mainly on the following topics: computer simulation, thermal performance of buildings, energy efficiency in buildings, natural and artificial lighting, rational use of water, use of rainwater, sustainability and life cycle analysis. In a study carried out by Stanford University, United States, published in 2021 (DOI 10.17632/btchxktzyw.3) he is among the 100,000 most influential scientists in the world throughout their careers; occupying the seventh position among the classifieds of UFSC and the eighth position among the classifieds of the state of SC.
